REGENERATING SILICA GEL

SLOW COOKER METHOD

Some of my customers say they use a slowcooker
They leave this on all day as it is cheap to run This is the best method so far

Regenerate the silica gel sachets/nylon bags upto 500grams
Put a sachet/bag on top of the radiator for 1 to 3 days or
Under the jacket on the airing cupboard tank
Or until they change back to orange and just reuse
You would need constant medium to hot heat for this method

OVEN METHOD
If you do put them in the oven take the silica gel out of the nylon bags
And onto to a ovenproof bowl/tray spread evenly for a couple of hours
With the temp between 100-120 Celsius
Or until they change back to orange and just reuse
Some of the silica gel will stay dark green and crack if there is to much temp
But will not affect the way they work

When regenerating self-indicating silica gel sachets in the oven
only the minimum necessary heat should be used
This will prevent the sachet material from deteriorating
Or the glue pulling away from the seams

Silica gel gets very hot during the drying process
Do not attempt to handle silica gel
Leave to cool slighlty and store back into a grip seal bag or container

MICROWAVE METHOD
I dont really like this method as it is very difficult to do correctly
In which i don't recommend

WARNING SILICA GEL GETS VERY HOT WITH THIS METHOD

Place the silica gel (approx 250grams) in an appropriate microwave container
And set the microwave power to the lowest possible setting
Dry silica gel for approximately 3 to 5 minutes and stir
Leave to cool slightly
And then reheat for another 3 to 5 minutes and stir
Leave to cool slightly
and check until most of them have changed back to orange
And store when cooled

Some of the silica gel will stay dark green and crack if there is to much temp
But will not affect the way they work
